If this is the wrong list to post this to, please accept my apologies in
advance.
A colleague of mine is considering conversion of an old "Progress"
(http://www.progress.com) MRP system. Right now he's got SCO character
based Progress software and 7 dumb terminals. Time to upgrade indeed.
He could convert to M$ is not steered in the right direction. He has a
low budget (in our favor) and only about 7 users. So this project needs
1 server, 1 firewall/IP Masq/Mail machine and maybe 7 PC's. No expertise
is required on Progress software itself, but a guru is needed to set up
the server and PC's.
The individual should have reasonable proximity to NYC, and be able to
offer same-day site support in the event of problems. (Yes, it's been
explained that much can be done remotely, but he needs a psychological
safety net)
The individual should be able to tender references as to having done
installs/conversions/client support of this nature and in/around the
specified geographic area.
Please email me off-list at: cjraven ddf-lab com if qualified and
interested. I have no financial or barter stake in the outcome. This is
help for a friend only, and to advance the cause of Linux against the
Empire.
Regards to all,
-Colin
