as root do chmod +s /usr/bin/kppp and also do chmod +s /usr/sbin/pppd that
should enable you to use kppp dial when you are not logged on as root but as
a normal user, you might want to disable the lock option by modifying the
/etc/ppp/options file and put a "#" before the word "lock" then when you do
go into Kppp then set up the connection to your ISP making sure that you
fill in the DNS settings otherwise you wont get too far with browsing :-)
make sure that inside control-panel that the modem is set up on the right
port (com2 for instance). If Kppp doesnt work then try using the RedHat
Dialer, that should take you through each stage of setting up your dialling
connection.
