Hello, everyone:
I'm trying to find some "traditional" unix commands for process accounting.
I found the psacct rpm and installed that which got accounting going. What
I'm trying to find are the handy verbs that extract information in a useable
manner. ac and sa are okay for what they do, but they don't provide
information like the old runacct, ckpacct, and dodisk scripts did.
Is there something that exists on RedHat (or obtainable anywhere else) that
would allow me to extract data from wtmp that I could actually use for
accounting? The rpm system is really handy for installing and uninstalling,
but it doesn't tell you what's in 'em, so I'm at a bit of a loss where to
look.
The 'net is pretty useless so far... doesn't seem like a lot of people are
actually interested in what's going on inside their machines. A pretty
scary outlook when one considers how many Linux machines are directly
attached to the 'net...
Thanks in advance!
Bill
