Re: RH& Install: Trident Video Card Blues

There were a *lot* of problems with the XFree86 3.3.6 server in 7.0 in
general. Savage 4's, Savage IX's, a number of Trident cards, and the I128
server were all affected by some compilation problems. There is a
workaround in the Gotchas page for 7.0 (the Savage workaround) that
pretty much applies to all of these cards. I wrote the original gotcha,
but haven't had a chance to to update things. The list of cards ran into
the thirties, and I have to test them all before I put something like that
out.:(

In essence, you need to downgrade to the 6.2 SVGA server, or switch to
XFree 4.0.1 if the driver is there for your card. Alternatively, you can
try the 3.3.6-35 server currently in rawhide, which should fix all of
those problems.
