Not sure if you got your answer yet, but the problem is most likely that the
drive is on a ATA 66 or 100 controller and the kernel in 7.0 is not
onfigured for it, the fix is install with the drive on a 33 controller and
update the kernal.

Has anyone ran into this problem when installing Linux? On the GUI I get to
the point where it asks me what type of Desktop I want installed, after I
select it click next, I get An error occurred...
It doesnt seem to be seeing my Hard Drives. I have 2 and the 1st will be
used by Win98. The 2nd by Linux. Anyone know the solution to this problem?
I have now invested about 12 hours into trying to solve it. Thank you for
any feedback.
