I wish I could go out and buy additional hardware, but it just isn't
possible.  Finding someone that knows what will fit into this Acer is
difficult.

That was the purpose of trying to install Linux, was to see if we could give
this old PC a new lease on life.

No, the BIOS will not allow booting from the CD-ROM.

Yes, it is one of those proprietary CD-ROM plugged into the sound card deals.
I'm pretty sure that I saw a hack for the driver in RH, which is one of the
reasons I selected RH to try.

Anyway, thanks for the thoughts.
