Alright, I've managed to narrow down my problem a bit. Here goes.
SYSTEM: AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1333 on an ASUS A7M266, not overclocked. 256 MB RAM
I managed to install Red Hat 7.1 without a single hitch. It works like a dream. It appears that there's nothing wrong with the Windows burns of RH72; either there's something wrong with the ISO or RH72 doesn't like my computer. I used cdrecord to burn two new ISOs that had been downloaded via FTP and checked with MD5.
I set the appropriate boot sequence, and it got as far as the Red Hat installation screen (you know, if you want to upgrade or install in graphical mode press enter...). So I press enter. It gives me "Loading initrd.img..." and stops, there on the third dot. I try again. Same result. I try text. Same result. I try pressing F2 (to look at the other install menus) and it shows it to me and promptly freezes.
I tried the same CD in a computer with an Asus P2B-F and a Pentium III 450. Installation started perfectly.
RH71 works perfectly. Why not 7.2 then? Am I doing something seriously wrong or is there a serious incompatibility issue here?
Sorry for typos; I think I set the resolution too high, and I'm having difficulties seeing what I'm writing. If you happen to know how to fix the font size, drop me an email. ;)
Thanks all!
