I have installed a scsi tape device (/dev/st0) on a laptop running Redhat 7.2. This laptop will be shared among a few different users. I want the various users to be able to access the tape drive to perform data processing functions as well as possibly run tar or mt commands. As installed now, only root is able to see the contents of a tape using tar. Can I create a "tape" group for /dev/st0 and make the various users belong to the group to allow them access. Is there a better way? Thank You
