I went here:
http://hardware.redhat.com/hcl/genpage2.cgi?pagename=details&hid=41
and your box is marked "easy" for everything under 6.2.
So something else is wrong.
Try 'fdisk /mbr' under dos to clear out the mbr.
Did you fully format the drive under dos?
Can you get the drive to boot dos and see the cdrom?
Termination ok?
anything external? - if so is it powered up?
Does you scsi controller let you do diags during the boot sequence?
if so verify, or just format the drive.
