Hi friend

 please modify your command as

mount /dev/hdc   /mnt/cdrom

Some times  your CDrom may have been allotted some other drive name ( may
not be hdc )
this you can assertain from the boot prompts
In this case replace  hdc  with hd*, where * is the letter assigned to your
CDRom
