Set the environment variable "http_proxy" to the address and port of
the proxy, to wit:
export http_proxy=http://some.server.dom:port/"
E.g. for my GuideScope banner filter
export http_proxy=http://localhost:8000/"
More details are in the man page ("man lynx"), and search for
PROTOCOL_proxy.
