The partition containing the /boot directory must lie below the
1024-cylinder boundary. If there's room (about 2.5-3GB) for the root
partition (/) below 1024, do that. If not, make a small (20-40MB)
partition below 1024, to be assigned to /boot. Then you can put the
root (/) partition wherever you want.
