Re: SCSI Harddrives during install

first thing no one knows which mboard you have, secondly, update you bios with the latest and firmware update for the onboard scsi. look at the hcl on rh to see if he mboard is supported, then try again.

Subject: SCSI Harddrives during install

Howdy folks.

I need to install RH 7.3 on a server.
SCSI: 3 hard drives, 1 CD-ROM
IDE: 1 CD-ROM
SCSI Controller: Adaptec AIC-7896N onboard

I want to blow the harddrives so no need to protect contents.

First I had no IDE just booted to the SCSI CDROM.  But it would not detect the CDROM so it thought it had no source files and wanted to do a server install.

So then I put in the IDE.  Now it boots fine and loads the installer correctly but it thinks there are no harddrives in the system.  Based the price of the last service job, I assure you there are.

On boot, the SCSI controller finds all the drives and installs the SCSI BIOS fine.

I dont need the IDE drive in the end, only there for the mean time so I can lose it as well.

Bottom line: it feels like the the RH 7.3 install wont see any of my SCSI stuff.  And I am real sure termination etc is correct.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks a bunch
-Gordy
