Actually I meant under Linux. I did not understand from your first post
that you could not even boot Linux after the install.

Yes I read it. However that link is very old. It would be easier to boot
rescue mode and edit /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia according to the article to
see if this cures your problem.

Place CD#1 in the drive and at the install prompt type: linux rescue

Once the system has booted type: chroot /mnt/sysimage
Then edit /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia according to the link you posted.

To exit the chroot environment type: exit
To reboot at the prompt type: exit

The article just states your system will hang on boot. It doesn't state
the specific fix this workaround it for. You will have to try it to see
if this is even the same problem.
