It sounds like you have XP playing your audio CDs digitally instead of
analog through a cable connection (which is what Bob was asking). Open the
box and see if you have a cable connecting the cound card to the CD-ROM
drive. If you don't, a trip to your favorite computer store will take care
of this. My bet is on the cable missing...but then, I try not to bet very
often.....strange things happen to me when I do. ;-)

I don't think so...Say, I have also Windows XP
installed in the same machine, and it can play CD just
fine.
