I assume you did run the media check on the cd's?
Try disabling dma. At the install prompt type: linux nodma
I saw this same problem last week trying to install 8.0 on a computer
for someone else. It would not install using his cheap lite-on cdrom.
Disabling dma did not even help. I finally tried the install using his
high quality Plextor CD-RW and the install worked perfectly on the first
try.
