Hi Bernie,
I had a similiar problem. Here is how I fixed my problem. I am still using RH
7.3 so I don't know if this may work in 8.0 but it's worth a shot.
Gave it a try. I actually had had no difficulty in the connection using 7.3;
the difficulty arose when I upgraded to 8.0. I tried both with and without the
rebooting you mentioned.
Unfortunately, no success yet. I appreciate your staying with the old reliable
7.3 -- for me it was new also as I just installed it in late October. I had
not done anything significant (just installed and built Amaya and Firebird) so
when 8.0 came out, I supposed I had no serious risk in upgrading. Now that I
have these problems, and have joined this list, I read Bob McClure's great
essay on his conservative dual-install strategy, but too late! Since you just
come onto this list yourself, you may not have seen it, and might want to take
a look at
