Hi all,
I am having trouble with a upgrade to Redhat 8.0. The upgrade went fine, but
now when I try to boot the box, it hangs at the disk check. When I did the
upgrade, I opted to convert to ext3 and go from lilo to grub.
I have checked the grub.conf file and it appears to be ok:
#
default=0
timeout=10
slashimage= (hd0,0)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title Red Hat Linux (2.4.18-14)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.18-14 ro root=/dev/hda1
initrd /boot/initrd-2.4.18-14.img
#
The fstab appears to be ok:
#
/dev/hda1 / ext3 grpquota 1 1
#
I have deleted any stale mtab files.
But when it boots, it says:
checking root filesystem.
/dev/hda1 is mounted. e2fsck: cannot continue aborting.
It then goes to the filesystem recovery shell.
I have ran e2fsck on it manually and it check clean. It appears to be
mounting the partition read write before it runs e2fsck, but I can't find what
causes it to do that.
Any Ideas?
Thanks, Allen
