| I saw a thread on this earlier in the month and I am experiencing the exact same symptoms as this guy. I did not see any messages that looked like a solution though, so I am hoping someone has found (but not posted) a fix. The symptoms are: I downloaded and built the CD's from the ISO images. MY PC booted from the first CD but the graphics install option launches into text mode and after answering language and keyboard type, then choosing to install from CDROM, it says it cannot find the CD!!! (GRRRR!) I have tried using: linux nodma and linux noprobe and linux hdc=cdrom but none of these seems to work. I also tried disabling UDMA mode in my bios, with no luck. My hardware is: Aopen AK77-333 motherboard. Athlon XP 2000+ CPU 512MB DDR PC2700 RAM Sound Blaster Audigy sound card Visiontek Nvidia Gforce4 Ti4200 (128 MB DDR) DLi! nk Ethernet adapter Maxtor HD on hda (80GB UDMA 133) loaded with WinXP home Maxtor HD on hdb (80GB UDMA 133 w 8mb cache) not partitioned yet Bus Logic 48x16x48 CDRW on hdc Zip250 drive on hdd (I believe this is PIO mode only) Is there anything I could try that does not involve swapping out/around hardware? I don't want to move hardware because I suspect putting devices that can't handle UDMA 133 on the same bus with drives that can run that, will force the entire bus to ratchet down to the lowest common speed. Thanks for your time, John |
