As already noted by others, it is probably a winmodem (software modem).

Two options either download the pre-compiled the NTFS module from the
linux NTFS project.

Compile the module yourself. It is very simple to compile the module.
Plus the added benefit of not having to rely on a third party to release
another module for every new kernel upgrade that is released.

What type of sound card? Do you have any sound output at all besides the
"test" from sound config?
