font related question

in my RH 7.0 box did:
chkfontpath --list
saw "/usr/share/font" as one of the paths as deisred.
fonts.dir in this path has the ".bdf" , ".tty" fonts
added.
But, how can i make my netscape 4.75 to use 
the ".bdf" font?. in "preferences"/font can not do it.
In view, "character set" could not do it either.
