Re: ftp connection problem

Thanks, Mike. disable = no was already set in these files. I think my problem has to do with
the firewall. When I did the install i choose 'medium' and checked all the services listed. But every
time I look at the firewall settings either through Security Level or lokkit or whatever it always says
'High' and I can't get it to change to anything else.

You need to go into /etc/xinetd.d and edit the "telnet" and "wu-ftpd" or
which
ever ftp server you are using. In each file you will find a line that says:

disable = yes

Change it to:

disable = no

After that you should be able to connect. If this doesn't work, restart
xinetd. But
if memory serves me correctly (and its been a long day of system upgrades)
that
should do it.

Good luck,

Thanks for replying. xinetd is running. I understand that this should
kickoff ftp when requested.

Gentlemen,
I have just installed RH 8 - my first Linux excursion ever. Most
things seem to work ok except for connecting
to the Linux box with ftp or telnet. I keep getting connection refused.
Any suggestions as to the problem?
