If you've used ifconfig to set the IP internally, its not going to query
the router via DHCP for its IP address is it, 'cos it already knows the
IP address!
That itsn't the problem tho, unless you *really need* the machine to
have IP=192.168.1.104 for some other reason.
If you have Win boxes on the network, use then to take a look at the
router config (there's normally a browser interface you can use) and see
if the browser has any settings to allow connection from 192.168.1.2.
Sometimes, if you don't use DHCP, a router will refuse the connection
unless you explcitly tell it to accept connections from an address.
Since I don't know your router, I can't help you here.
Bob, whats the command line option to tell this guy how to set his card
up to query the router for the IP via DHCP?
(Cos thats the other alternative to try.)
Actually, reading back through your emails, you have a GUI access to the
card.
Run the redhat-config-network tool, and edit the card config to use
DHCP. That may do the trick.
