Does you motherboard have a highpoint raid controller on it?  If so, make
sure you are using the highpoint linux boot disk (if you are planning on
using raid).  If not, then use the other (VIA ide controllers) and disable
the highpoint controller.  This problem is fixed in the 2.4.19 pre-patches.
