"Missing Operating System"

Just finished a supposedly "Successful" network (HTTP) install of RedHat 7.3.

Now when I try to boot the machine I receive the "Missing operating system" message.

I booted using a 7.3 boot disk and was able to enter rescue mode; it looks like the partitions exist and are valid.

I tried using fdisk from the rescue mode prompt to (a)ctivate the first (boot) partition, but when I try to (w)rite the changes I get this error:

"Warning: Re-reading the partition table failed with error 16: Device or resource busy.
The kernel still uses the old table.
The new table will be used at the next reboot."

It then says "Syncing discs", and then returns to the rescue prompt.

When I reboot, I still get the same "Missing operating system" error.

The system is a Pentium 133 CPU, 64 megs RAM, motherboard with Intel VX chipset, Maxtor 4-gig IDE hard drive, floppy drive, Creative 52x CD-ROM drive.

Any help would be appreciated!!
