Re: Firewall



This is more of a philosophical question that really
depends on the level of security, systems layout,
performance you want from your systems, etc.  Your
hardware firewall I assume only does packet filtering,
whereas if you want additional security for specific
apps or additional packets on your linux machine then
you would probably want to consider iptables for extra
packet filtering specific to your linux machine and
not the rest of your network, that your hardware
firewall would handle.  For your apps, you can look at
various proxy level filtering mechanisms.
