Hi folks,
I am trying to install redhat 7.2 on a IBM thinkpad machine. It should be easy,
right? I have done this installation process on different machines a couple of
different times. The problem is, when I insert the CD and try to boot the
install process, the system (for some reason) gives a "boot failed" message
and stops. Any ideas why?
I tried to move around the boot from CD. I boot my machine with a DOS disk
and try to load the kernel using the "loadlin" program. The kernel image (vmlinuz)
and the initrd.img are loaded correctly. Then, it identifies the hard disks and
other system info and tries to mount the root! But, there is no partition to
be mounted as root. Should I mount the cdrom as the root or what? Is there any way
I can avoid this mount process and continue with the install. And generally,
when installing from the CD and before partitioning the hard disk what is mounted
as the root.
Sorry for this long email!
Shayan
