RE: Exchange Access from linux workstation

Hi Rick;

MS outlook is MAPI client. I am ussing it for fetching mails from exchange
server. Is there any application like this to fetch u r mail from exchange
in linux.

I can get mails from exchange with kmail but i am not able to send as port
25 is blocked which is std in our company for security reasons. But i can't
send mail as SMTP port i.e 25 is blocked.
Kmail is like outlook express which uses pop3 and smtp as protocols.

After the the mails are fetched from exchange in linux there is no way u can
take it windows for replies. So If anybody have idea of MAPI clients for
linux.

thanks;
Ashish

Any mail client capable of the IMAP4 protocol can access Exchange to
pick up mail. I believe Exchange also implements POP3, but I'm not
sure.

I don't know why port 25 would be blocked. Unless Exchange uses some
other mechanism for outgoing mail (which it may--I know little about
Exchange's innards), you must not be using Exchange as your outgoing
mail server. I'd look carefully at your Outlook settings and see
what it thinks your outgoing mail server is, then set Kmail or what-
have-you to use that server.
