error with cdrom.

Hello,
	Situation, rh 7.2, when i try to mount a rom for the first time, using
the command mount /mnt/cdrom, i get the error /dev/cdrom is not a valid
block device. I then do modprobe cdrom and it works fine. Does anyone
know why this is occurring?
