I'm not sure whether 650 MB in CDR capacity means 650,000,000 bytes
or 650 * 1024 * 1024 bytes.  I have some "650MB" disks at home, I'll try
copying disk1 to one of them tonight -- if I remember...

Too bad you don't have another Linux machine to actually check the CDs,
but we're not defeated yet! :-)

Let's hope your CD #1 is sufficiently good that you can use the rescue
mode. On the initial screen when you boot the install disk, choose "rescue
mode" ("linux rescue"), respond to a query or two and then when it says it
will try to find an image, do the "skip" function. That should get you to
a shell with a working "dd" and "md5sum". Then try the commands I
mentioned in the previous message, except using "/tmp/cdrom" in place of
"/mnt/cdrom". Check the reported MD5 sum against the list above. Then
remove disk1 and do the same thing for disk 2 (don't forget to change the
"count=xxx" argument).

Let us know how those tests turn out.

You need the SRPMs only if you want to rebuild packages from the sources.
Once you get your other problems solved, however, you make want to get
the "enigma-docs.iso" which has all kinds of good documentation stuff on it.
