Are the DNS settings on the internal machines set to the correct addresses?
Can you ping from internal to gateway machine?
Can you ping from internal to local ISP?
Can you ping from internal to Yahoo?
If you can answer yes to all of the above look at the Masquerade HOWTO. If
you read JUST the parts for your kernel (2.4) it's not a bad setup. If you
read the whole thing it can get quite confusing as there have been many
changes between kernels.
