First, give us a complete description of your connection, and PC's in
your network etc... You may have some things set up incorrectly.
(modems, routers, hubs, NIC cards, connection software etc...)
See below.

Why would these stop working? If you are using DSL, you should be using
2 NIC cards and IPCHAINS/IPTABLES and have the RH system acting as a
router to the internet. The way you have it configured any bozo could
get access to you your samba stuff, all he needs is to find your IP
address.
For DynDNS look for a dynamic DNS client called ddclient. It will do
what you need. Read the install "readme", make a few edits to the
ddclient.conf and execute it. There are example files for putting it in
your rc.d startup directories. (untar it to a separate directory so you
can see all of the files associated with it)
Very straight forward. I use ddclient on 2 Caldera 2.3 boxes that each
execute every 5 minutes and they are scheduled 2.5 minutes apart and
updates my dynamic DNS provider ZONEEDIT.com. Works GREAT!!
BTW, you do not compile PERL programs, you just execute them. I

Depends on whether or not you can learn new tricks :)
