Ok, you may have an MCE or DMA issue with the installer's kernel
(not uncommon with AMD chipsets). Here's a couple of ideas. When
you boot the CD-ROM, at the installer prompt, try entering "text nomce"
(without the quotes, of course). This will turn off MCE and launch the
installer in text mode. I'll bet that's the magic bullet.
If that doesn't work, try "text hda=nodma", which will turn off DMA
on the hard drive. If it still has a problem use both options
("text nomce hda=nodma"). Once the system is installed, try running
with no special options (in other words, don't use "nomce" or "nodma").
If the system hangs, try adding the option(s) that helped with the
install.
