Stick the CD in a drive, but DON'T MOUNT IT! Then, find a spot
on your hard drive where you can store the ISO image and "cd" to
that spot. Then use this command:
dd if=/dev/cdrom of=name-of-iso-file bs=2k
replacing "name-of-iso-file" with the name of the file you wish to
copy the CD to.

It used to work the way you're trying to do it. Now it requires the CD
copy be in the iso form, not individual files. Not sure when that
changed, but I know I did a couple of releases with files a few years
back.
