I would beg to differ, cd-rw that I use like sony are VERY reliable, they
are a good thing to have, when I want to peridically backup my system I
backthem onto cd-rw as you can erase them and reuse it.
The problem is that some shitty cd readers which have bene used so much
that there laser is full of dust or that they are simply designed bad,
cant read cd-rw as they reflect less light than the cd-r's. SO its wrong
to condemt cd-rw offhand so much.

Too bad as cd-rw are almost 10 times as expensive as cd-r's........

Strange....what exactly were the brands of the offending cd-rw's. could it
be that you cd-writer is bad??....If the cd-writer uses more power than
specified then obviously the cd-rw will get damaged badly...otherwise
cd-rw should have a theoretically unlimited amount of blanking and reusing
ability.
Practically I have rewriten a sony cd-rw almost 500 times and still have
to loose a byte.....My cd writer is asus which is THE best brand for
cd-writers and readers. Creative is the WORST for cd drives.
Best Wishes,
Grendel
