how to install compiler?

Hi All,

I just installed 7.3 as a "Server" and wanted to start learning C.
Apparently, installation took care of make and skipped the rest. What do
I need and how do I do this? I looked on the website and could not find
anything. Actually, it started when I found pfroftpd howto on redhat.com
and tried to follow instructions. That's where I stuck. I am mostly
interested in GUIless life as much as possible, however if there is no
other way I have GNOME there. Will rpm take care of the dependencies
when I install gcc and whatever else I need?
