RE: Kernel Panic: Attempted to kill init & 7.2 Installation Problems on Athlon

RE: Kernel Panic: Attempted to kill init!
RE: 7.2 Installation Problems on Athlon

Disable Power Management!

Thanks, this message got it running. I disabled the power management completely, and all went well. Complete and total install working well after struggling with this for four weeks almost to the hour. I then enabled the power management as before, and it worked well last night as did all of Red Hat Linux 7.2. I am delighted.

The Email which was referred to here from Matt Thoene solved the problem with his comment and referral to Bugzilla. See his enclosed URL below. There is an apparent bug in the installer when using AMD in certain situations. All is OK after install.

Not only is this a problem with 7.2 but apparently also with 7.3 in Duron and Athlon chips. How extensive this is I do not know, but I am delighted to have gotten this information. I would have never thought to do this at all.

Thanks again
