RE: ext3 - followup

Grendel,
Just a couple of last questions. I expect that I'd just use XFS or
reiserfs on a secondary drive that holds my recorded audio from Ardour to
start, but I'd leave ext2 on the main system drive for simplicities sake.
There's no problem running all these files systems at the same time is
there? I'm sure the answer is no, but just checking. (Unfortunately, I'd not
be able to have the better reliability for a while.

Later, if I want to convert the system drive to reiserfs or XFS, what's
the process? How do I get the same system image and my files loaded onto the
new file system? Completely rebuild/restore? Or is there something easier.

Thanks,
Mark

Ahh....I see, I am running my own kernel without any initrd hence my
dilemma, I see it all now, how stupid of me :-)

Except....you can not mount a ext3 as a ext2 if there has been a
unsafe shutdown, ie it has not been unmounted properly, like for example a
power failure. In this case you cannot mount it as a ext2 until you have
run the fsck/mounted it as ext3 to flush the journal data.

Except in the above situation, the ext3 docs themselves mention it.

Best Wishes,
Grendel
