Chris,
I believe you have to run the profile menu to set up navigator for mail
and news. I don't think there is a way around it. I don't use it for
mail so I just put some bogus info in when prompted.
To modify the path to the new executable, do as Rick suggested below...

Once you are in the menu editor you can add or modify as you wish.
Netscape wasn't in my KDE start>internet, so I added it with execute
/usr/local/netscape/netscape and work path /usr/local/netscape.
Select a Netscape icon and apply.
You could also put a shortcut on your desktop. Right click on the
desktop then create new link to application.
Choose a Netscape icon and under command enter the path to the
executable,
To uninstall Netscape 4.79....
It was probably installed during intallation so you could use kpackage
to uninstall it.
Since you stated
