I followed your instructions and the mount cmd didn't respond with anything
that looks like your example. I got some other stuff like rootfs / on ?????
so I figured the hda1,2,3,5,6 where unmounted. and I ran the fsck cmd on
/dev/hda5 and it saked me something and clear? I typed y and now I'm getting
this at boot.
Mounting rootfiles system
ext3: No Journal on filesystem on ide0 (3,5)
mount: error 22 mounting ext3
pivotroot: pivot_root(/sysroot,/sysroot/initrd) failed:2
Freeing unused lernel memory : 272 freed
Kernek panic: no init found , try passing init= option to kernel
what did I do wrong?

Well, if you boot in rescue mode and get to the prompt, then you need
to figure out what's mounted where. If you enter the "mount" command
and look at what's mounted at various spots in the "/mnt/sysimage" tree,
you should unmount each one in turn and run "fsck -y" on each partition.
For example:
# mount
/dev/hda1 on /mnt/sysimage type ext2 (rw)
/dev/hda5 on /mnt/sysimage/home type ext2 (rw)
/dev/hda8 on /mnt/sysimage/usr type ext2 (rw)
/dev/hda6 on /mnt/sysimage/var type ext2 (rw)
In that case, I'd "umount /dev/hda6" first, then "fsck -y /dev/hda6"
and repeat that until I got through /mnt/sysimage (/dev/hda1), which
is the root filesystem. Once that's all done, shut down and try
booting from the hard disk again.
