Hi Jeff,

Here some basics:

Im trying to Install Red Hat v8.0 Psyche. 

MoBo : MSI K7T266A Pro2-RU
2 x IBM Deskstar 40GB in Raid 0 (on-board promise fasttrak 100 lite,
20265R chip)

IDE1:
Master: -
Slave: CDROM

IDE2:
Master: DVD
Slave: ZIP

IDE3 (raid controller):
Master: IBM Deskstar HD
Slave: -

IDE4 (raid controller):
Master: IBM Deskstar HD
Slave: - 

I'm running WIN XP Pro now, I have 1 prim partition (10 Gb C:) and 1
Extended partition containing 4 logical drives each 8 Gb (DEFG), leaving
about 36 Gb unallocated for a linux system setup. 
All win partitions are NTFS.

Hope this helps somewhat, during the installation it doesn't seem to
recognize hde and hdg........
