RE: Laserjet1100 all of as sudden stops working

I had a similar problem when I did an update on my redhat 7.0 through
up2date. It seems that cups was installed and took over. I deleted cups and
reloaded the lpd that also seemed to disappear after all.

Once I did that my printing started again.

under GNOrpm, i can see the LPRNG 3.8.9 installed, but I can't get it
uninstalled (I think I forced an install on that one, but hey, it was late
yesterday, had to workzzzzzz)... anyway, I can't get it uninstalled and
reinstall the 3.7.4...
I uninstalled CUPS, don't know if that is a smart one..

I'll see what I can do with the -i and --force options

as is... still no solution, but the help is appreciated, guys!

Does lprng show up in an RPM listing? ("rpm -qa | grep lpr"). If not,
then you probably don't have it. You can install the latest version by
doing "rpm -i --force name-of-lprng-rpm". The "--force" will force it
to install regardless of dependencies or previous versions.
