redhat 8 install help

Im installing redhat8 on a PIII 550Mhz, 128Mb gateway.  purchased 3 years
ago.  when i try to install it doesnt even get through the system notes.
I tried text mode gui mode, and several options:  noprobe, diskppd, ...  I
also did the mediacheck but it still hangs before it even gets through teh
system notes.  i thought it might be some hardware compatibility problems
but the machine is a factory gateway as described above.  any suggestions?
