The only thing I can thing of is that your IP address with your ISP just
rotated. I had a similar problem. Even though I now have broadband, I still
have a smililar problem, after 48 hrs, everything stops, and I need to drop
the line and reconnect. Good job that my gateway does it automatically!

Subject: flakey connection
Hi all
Sure appreciate having you folks available.. I learn an awful lot
watching this list
I now have a dedicated dial-up line for internet access. It will be a
couple years yet before we see broadband here... ;(
I have "installed" (that gets me in right? ;^) ) an up2date redhat 7.2
workstation.
A couple times a week my mailer fails to find the pop hosts and the
only way I have found to reset its functionality is to reconnect to the
isp. Usually the browsers go down as well and can't connect remotely
with them either. I can periodically get mozilla mail to connect when
kmail goes loopy but it too will fail eventually. The im / irc clients
seem to be unaffected
I can restart the programs but it makes no difference. I search
through "ps aux" looking for clues. I don't want to disconnect all the
time.
Where do I look for clues as to what's wrong? How might I fix this?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Cheers! Ian
