Hi all, ok this has to be the problem that has bugged me the most since
my first ever install of Linux. I've never known how to upgrade the
dependencies without screwing up the system. I'm trying to install
gabber from jabber.org for Gnome on Redhat 8, but I'm getting the
following failed dependencies. How do I upgrade these dependecies? I'm
thinking that I shouldn't need to upgrade these libs as the update agent
would pick them up? Why isn't that the case?
[root P5D7Q9 Jabber]# rpm -ivh gabber-0.8.7.12-fr1.i386.rpm
warning: gabber-0.8.7.12-fr1.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID

error: Failed dependencies:
libsigc++ >= 1.0.0 is needed by gabber-0.8.7.12-fr1
gnomemm >= 1.2.0 is needed by gabber-0.8.7.12-fr1
libgdkmm-1.2.so.1 is needed by gabber-0.8.7.12-fr1
libgnomemm-1.2.so.9 is needed by gabber-0.8.7.12-fr1
