Re: switch to kde...

thanks, i can type startx now a boot into kde, as for ntfs, i need it so
that i can take the stuff from the 2000 partition.

I sort of lost faith in all modern operating systems today. Linux will
one day, no doubt be the best os out there and the easiest to use, but
at the moment, it is very immature. as for 2000 and Xp let's not even
start. they are the REASON i use Linux. i also used to use Mac os 9 and
Os X i lost faith in those too. (although os x is pretty cool - if it
ran on less that 5000$ hardware). i am trying to install win 2k and, as
i said before, i have a nice partition for it on my hard drive, but
after i installed it, and use the xp upgrade cd to upgrade to xp, it
rendered my partition un-bootable. now i installed red-hat linux, and
every time i run the 2k installer, grub keeps on booting into Linux.
well i NEED to use Flash so SOMEHOW i will have to get windows on there
even if it means un-installing Linux (*sniff*). the other option would
be that someone will bestow upon me their linux guruness and get me to
run win2k without erasing linux.

so after my rant i feel better, but not smarter, so can someone help me
here? (and as you have sen i am full of questions, how can one get the
new kde and gnome versions and apps without installing redhat 8.0 (that
is an option, but let's just say t is not. do i have to download EVERY
piece of gnome and every piece of kde and then build them from source in
a very complicated and time consuming order?)

thanks.
