X windows got hung up many times today causing my
machine to crash. (There was a "Kernel out of
memory" message in my log file.)
Trying to clean up old files I used Locate to find
files and folders to remove. I noticed that there
were several particularly large folders that showed up
with the Locate command, but when I went to remove
them, I was told that there were no such directories.
The directories did not show up with ls command
either?
What is happening?
If the file or folder names start with a ".", they won't show up
in a regular "ls" listing. You need to use "ls -a" to see them.
You DID set up a swap partition, didn't you?
