Subject: boot loader question
Here is my issue: I have 2 hard drives, one for windows xp and another for
linux. Yesterday I installed my linux drive and started installation. When
it asked me where to install the boot loader, i installed grub in my linux
hard drive. When installation was complete i rebooted and saw that my
computer could not boot from my linux hard drive, so I tried installing
linux again. This time i chose to install lilo in the master hard drive
(the
win xp HD). Installation finished and rebooted, but this time an "L"
appeared in the top-left corner of the screen (which i guess stands for
lilo). But it didnt let me type anything, the computer stayed there
forever,
until i pressed the ctrl-alt-del to reboot. This time i tried to install
linux again and use grub instead. The only difference was that instead of
an "L" it said "GRUB" and nothing happened. And now I couldn't get into
Windows! I had a big problem. Well, I ended installing windows again to
erase the boot sector, and everything worked out with WinXP. But now I
have
to insert a boot disk to start linux, and I dont want that, I want to have
a
boot loader there. Anyone could help me with this please? btw. i am using
redhat linux 7.3 downloaded from www.redhat.com.
Thanks!
George Faraj
