I'm confused about this. What is your firewall, the NT Server? Then you
are using the NT Server as your gateway for the Win2000 machine as well as
your Linux Box?
I'm trying to get into my work machine - the firewall my be some Sun
computers or something else, I don't know and security isn't talking.
Are you at home connecting to the systems locally? Based on what you said
above I suppose you are at home with the Linux Box at home able to ping the
NT Server and Win 2000 machines and when you traceroute you are tracerouting
to your work systems?
I am at home on Linux. Using the CISCO VPN software written for Linux and
the java scripting from PCAnywhere I am able to get through my work Firewall
and log onto the NT boxes that work as my departments servers and onto one
of 5 computers in my department set up for remote login using PCAnywhere.
One of these 5 computers is the one sitting on my desk at work.
I am trying to avoid the CISCO software and the java taken from PCAnywhere -
hoping that if I use the VPN software supplied with RedHat 9 things will be
faster and a little more stable.

Are you running Novell? Do not know much about the SLP but it would seem to
be related to Novell Discovery. Is the SLP on the linux dying or on the PC?
I know my department has a Novell server but I didn't think I was going
through that. If I am going through that how does one go about
installing/configuring SLP?

Sorry, can't help more without a little more information?
Dan
Not a problem, you ask the questions and I'll try to come up with some
answers that help. Problem here at work is there are 8,000 employees, some
of which have been allowed (forced) to use VPN to get more work done in the
same 24 hour day. Officially, the company is only supporting Windows
machines but most of the support are using Linux but they aren't talking
about how they do it (don't want to support it). So, it's OK if I use it
but I'm on my own and I'd like to get rid of the dual booting just to do
more work.
