Old network printer memory problems - redhat 9

I have an old HP Laserjet 3 printer which I print to over the network
from my Redhat 9 machine.

Whenever I print from Mozilla, the printer gets memory overflow errors
and prints bits of the document all over the place. However, printing
from other software such as OpenOffice prints with no problems.
